About the Host:

Nellie Harden is a wife of 20+ years, mom to 4 teen/tween daughters, dreamer, adventurer, servant, multipreneur, forever student, and a devoted teacher, but her career passion is her work as a Family Life & Leadership Coaching, especially for parents of young women ages 9-18yo.

Coming from a career background in marine mammal sciences, behavioral work, and a host of big life experiences, both great and some not-so-great, she decided that designing a life of purpose and freedom was how she and her husband, along with their 4 daughters, wanted to live.

Her work and passions exist in the realms of parenting and teen mentorship because she believes that a family filled with creativity, fun, laughter, challenge, adventure, problem-solving, hugs, good food, and learning can not only change a person’s life but is the best chance at positively changing the world.

She helps parents to stop wasting time and energy in power struggles so they can focus on building their daughter’s worth, esteem, and confidence as young women before they ever leave home.

With a lifelong passion and curiosity in thought, choice, behavior, and growth she has found incredible joy in helping families shift perspective, and find answers, and a path forward.

(Nellie has been coaching families for over 10 years and has degrees in Biology, Animal Behavior, and Psychology. )

This is the 6570 family project. Let's go

Nellie Harden:

Hello, everyone. Welcome to another episode, the last episode of season one of the 6570 family project podcast and for this entire season 68 episodes long we have been putting aside power struggles and finding a path to lead our kids toward worth esteem and confidence and the stuff that they need in order to step into the world as a young adult and a leader of their own life. You guys, I cannot believe that we are wrapping up season one. I also can't believe that season one was 68 episodes long. That is insane. But you know, when you start this, you just go along with it. And then you learn as you are going. What do they say? Build your parachute on the way down, right? But we didn't go down we went up? Absolutely. So we have 68 episodes 31 episodes where guest interviews you guys. And those were from multiple authors of best selling books, millennials showing us what is happening out in the world today from their perspectives, what they're seeing out in the workspace loved that episode, I believe that was episode eight parents on the other side of the 6570 and what their perspective is and what what's changed what they would have done differently, what outcomes were and then we had experts in specific areas of parenting and child development like compassion and raising special needs kids, ADHD specialists that came on emotional health, pediatrics, loss, you know, therapy and working through loss, education, finances, wellness, cooking, cultural norms and cultural differences around the world. We had mom care and of course, we had leadership because that is the ultimate goal. Bringing our kids from parent led discipline to self disciplined leader before they leave home, so that they aren't going off into the world to chase their worth. They know their worth. They know their value, they appreciate themselves, and they have the confidence to go out and make the difference in the world that they were uniquely built to make. So in the shows I did solo, we talked about the future of our kids, we talked about parenting versus print, friendship, we talked about struggle and success and your story that you're writing. We talked about social media and friendship and guardrails and quality time, social structures of the teen world and literally so much more. So what was all of this for? Why did we do this? Well, as a human raising humans, ie parenting, one of the one of the best attributes we can teach and practice and pass on is looking at the world, looking at people looking at ourselves from different multiple perspectives. And building a person from that parent led discipline to self discipline leader, right? Owner of their own life. It really demands worth esteem and confidence being established in their foundation. And each one of those steps begs for perspectives to be explored, right? It's the growth mindset versus fixed mindset, which we also talked about within the last Gosh, what was the like 15 months? And so really asking, you know, what are my needs? How are they being met? How am I meeting other's needs? What are my values and how do I want to represent myself in life? How am I showing up in my 1440 minutes each day of this 6570 Which of course 65 Set Monday is how many days are in 18 years if you've if this is the first one you've ever listened to, that's what that stands for. And asking yourself, How can I affect the world today with confidence? Who can I help? How can I help? What can I do all of these different things looking from different perspectives? Now you guys, do you remember those? The shareables of like, I call them i trickery? Like, what is the color of this dress? Is a golden white or blue and black? Right? Or what color? Is the shoe? Is it pink? Or is it green? Or the I puzzles that were really popular in the 90s. I remember just I had one of them, which was this underwater scene. And I would look at it in my room, I would just stare at it until I could see those dolphins and whales and fish and all of these things playing under there. But if you just glance at it, it just looks like a bunch of hubbub. There's nothing there. But the point is, these are all really blatant, really physical examples of perspectives. But it gives us a good insight, especially when talking with our kids, on how some people just see things differently. It's all about perspective and perspective is built throughout our entire lives. And it is okay. It's the magic of being 8 billion different people in this world that have the potential to contribute to this planet in this world in 8 billion different ways. Right? Not everybody takes that opportunity though. There are exist errs, and there are takers right in this world. But not the ones that you are raising. Because if you're listening to this, you are being intentional with your parenting and I praise you and hug you and high five and all the good things of four that you are raising a contributor, a person who knows how to rise up and resilience, speak and be heard with grace and respect, knows how to lead others to their unique made for them success, whether that could be in a job, a home volunteer position, it could be in a boardroom, maybe not corner office, I don't know, it could be in a classroom, it could be in a gym, who knows the possibilities are literally endless, and how a person's leadership can manifest in their life. But always, always, always starts from within, you cannot be a leader on the outside without being a leader on the inside first. And if we can give them that leg up before they leave home, if we can, in their adult education, aka teenage hood, give them that gift. They are set for life in a way that so many, so many others are not right, we can give them that. And you cannot have a true leader of life without worth right knowing that they matter without esteem, knowing how to value and appreciate their own life and those around them, or confidence knowing the path that they have matters. And their dreams and actions are important in this world. They were born right now for a reason, right? You were born for such a time is this you've heard that quote probably they were born right now for a reason. And it was not just to be here and leave. They were brought here and they have a reason and a purpose. So joy, I've defined it to you before is this unmeasured mixture of purpose or contribution right either one, their faith, creativity and gratitude. And the path to joy is paved with becoming a leader in your life. And I know that is what you want for your child. So that is what we've been doing for these last 68 episodes. And speaking of joy, I just want to say thank you so much to all of the listeners that have tuned in and all of the wonderful speakers that we have had come on the show it has been amazing. Just during this season of growth for myself growth for the 6570 family project and growth for take the lead program that we have. And I am just so fortunate to have had this growth in this podcast. And also just say thank you. So that's it friends, that is the season one, it is a wrap. Stay tuned for details on season two of the 6570 family project. And you can follow all the details if you follow me on Instagram at Nellie Hardin. And remember, the best way to change the world is through one living room at a time. And the best way to help your child's future is through being a guide for them right now, right? In the world. They are one of 8 billion but in your home, they are one of you. Thank you so much, you guys for everything that you've done. It has been such a joy in season one, and I look forward to everything that has to come in the 6570 family project with you.
